Right Sparks Learning was founded by Sarah and Andy Whittle, two experienced teachers who share the belief that successful learning is built on clear thinking, curiosity, and confidence.
Through many years of classroom teaching, they have seen that students often struggle not because they lack ability, but because they need to be shown how to organise their thinking, structure their answers, or approach challenging problems with confidence. Their nurturing tutoring approach focuses on developing these academic skills alongside strong subject understanding.
Rather than simply revisiting classroom material, their lessons help students understand how ideas connect, how exam questions are structured, and how marks are awarded. By making these processes explicit, students learn to approach their subjects with greater clarity and independence.
They work with students across Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A Level, supporting them in building both the knowledge and the intellectual habits needed for long-term academic success.

Co-Founder | Physics, Chemistry & Science Tutor
Andy has over 20 years’ teaching experience in top academic grammar and independent schools. He has taught across a wide range of age groups from Key Stage 2 through to GCSE and A Level, enabling him to support learners at all stages through developing an understanding of clear scientific ideas. His teaching focuses on the underlying principles and how to apply these in a structured format when answering exam questions.
As a practising classroom teacher with QTS, Andy has extensive experience of the GCSE and A Level specifications across the different exam boards and a detailed understanding of how exam questions are assessed. He regularly prepares students for GCSE and A Level examinations and, through both his teaching and tutoring, has helped many students achieve strong results.
By developing structured thinking and clear explanations, he enables students to tackle unfamiliar problems with greater confidence and assurance.

Co-Founder | English & Academic Skills Tutor
Sarah is a qualified teacher with a PGCE and QTS in English and Drama. She has taught in leading grammar and independent schools and brings over fifteen years of experience supporting students across Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level. Alongside classroom teaching, Sarah has held middle leadership roles.
Her teaching focuses on helping students develop clarity and confidence in their reading, writing, and analytical thinking. She specialises in guiding students to structure their ideas effectively, analyse texts with precision, and communicate their arguments clearly in essays.
Alongside teaching, Sarah is also involved in developing academic programmes and educational resources designed to help students build strong critical thinking skills and intellectual independence. Her work has included contributing to academic programmes connected with a leading university, supporting students in developing the reasoning and analytical skills required for more demanding academic study.
Her approach combines careful guidance with high expectations, encouraging students to engage deeply with ideas and develop the confidence to express their thinking clearly and thoughtfully.
